Project Nemo —

This was a project to create a fully working computer that was submerged in Mineral Oil housed in a fish tank.

We used a Gigabyte MB / AGP Graphics Card / Fishtank 20 Gallon / Gravel / PSU / Tubing / Radiator / Pump / Hard Drive (Not submerged) / Air pump / Skeleton /  20 Gallons of Mineral Oil.

Conclusion after the project – This was an awesome project and I had tons of fun putting it all together and getting it to run. I used it as my home web server for about 7 months and during that time ambient temperature was around 50 – 60 degree’s idle if I would run BOINC it would go up to about 70 – 75 degree’s. Heat pockets would form due to the lack of circulation in this particular tank. Take down was a pain (nothing much to do with 20 gallons of mineral oil) parts had oil in them from deep inside the boards for quite sometime… If you have some $$ and want a fun project do it otherwise maintenance and cleanup aren’t really worth it all…
